Kate Richmond, PhD., is Professor of Psychology at Muhlenberg College. She is widely published in the areas of multicultural psychology, gender ideology, and trauma. Her co-author undergraduate textbook, entitled Psychology of Women & Gender was awarded the Distinguished Publication Award by the Association of Women in Psychology. Dr. Richmond has been nationally recognized on several occasions for excellence in teaching and mentorship, including being the recipient of the Florence Denmark Distinguished Mentoring Award and the Paul C. Empie Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching. She is passionate about community-based teaching within the Lehigh County Corrections facility and is a former member of the SCI-Graterford Prison Think Tank. With a group of Muhlenberg College faculty, staff, and students, Dr. Richmond works alongside individuals who are currently or formerly incarcerated, to increase access to higher education, reduce mass incarceration, and build healthy communities. Dr. Richmond is also a licensed psychologist and maintains a private practice in Philadelphia, PA.
